Our Reverse Advent Calendar

Christmas is approaching fast and our children have been thinking about those around them who may be struggling, and those who find the festive season particularly difficult.

So School Council would like us to do something a little different year, and are leading Grimley & Holt in a whole-school Reverse Advent Calendar.

The idea is that children will take turns to donate different items each day in the run up to Christmas. In our final week this term, we will distribute all the goods to local foodbanks and our local homeless charities.

Watch out for updates in our newsletter to see how the collection is growing.

ParentMail is here!

Communicating with parents is an important part of what we do.

Making sure you get the correct information about activities, events and things that really matter, is something we care about.

From this term we will be using ParentMail, a service used by over 6,000 schools, nurseries and children’s clubs to communicate to parents.

ParentMail will be beneficial to you
because you can:

· Use a free mobile app on Android and iOS to pick up school messages instantly.

· Top up dinner money or pay for schools trips/items in just a few taps.

· And much, much more!

Registering with ParentMail is very easy! Parents should have received an email and/or text message from ParentMail, with clear instructions to follow.

Please be assured that ParentMail is registered with the Information Commissioner and guarantees that all information you provide will be kept private and will not be passed on to any other organisation.

Once registered, if you have an Android or Apple smartphone, we highly recommend you download the ParentMail App for the best user experience. To do this, simply search for “ParentMail” in your App store.

If you need any additional information or assistance, please visit the help site: https:// or if you have not received any contact from
ParentMail, then please contact Mrs Wilksinson in the school office:

Doing our bit for Children in Need

Despite the challenges of Covid 19, Grimley pupils were determined to do as much as possible to support Children in Need this year. Led with gusto by the School Council, pupils took part in three different activities to raise money for the renowned charity event.

Firstly, the ever-popular Name the Teddy competition saw two winners – one from KS1 and one from KS2 – name a bear correctly.  They each took home the furry friend as their prize!

Secondly, Year 6 Council members arranged for a Pudsey-themed colouring competition throughout the school.

And finally, the whole school practised and recorded a special Children in Need song, which was performed in a Covid-safe way in the school grounds.  The performance was filmed and posted for all parents to enjoy, on the condition they donated to Children in Need. What a wonderful idea!

We are just waiting for the final total – watch this space!
