Which Egg-cellent Scientist will you create?
In the Summer term, each class will begin a Scientist of the Month session, celebrating the world’s greatest scientists from across history and up to the present day. The initiative will not only teach the children about the life-changing discoveries of the past, but also celebrate the scientific minds of today and how they are making a difference in our modern world.
And what about our local scientists? We also want to focus on the day-to-day work of the scientists in our own local communities – the people we know and love! So each month, we will focus on a parent’s job and the science skills they use each day. And finally, we will award a child in each class as our ‘Scientist of the Month’ for demonstrating key scientific skills.
To celebrate the launch of this new activity, we’d love all the children to take part in the Egg-cellent Scientists Egg-xhibition!
Children need to decorate a hard-boiled egg over the Easter holidays to represent a ‘Scientist’. This could be of a scientist from the past or in our time now, or it could be modelled on a parent or even themselves!
Together with the egg, the children need to write on a postcard size piece of paper a couple of sentences of key information about their scientist. Then upload a photo of your egg and the info to Microsoft Teams.
Class dojos will be awarded for participation and we will upload a gallery of all our eggheads!
Have fun everyone, we can’t wait for you to get cracking!!
