Sports Premium

The premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, in the 2021-22 academic year, to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

We use this funding for a variety of purposes; such as:

  • Hiring Sports Coaches to work with teachers
  • Staff Professional Development
  • Resources
  • Introduction of new sports and experiences
  • encouraging less active children, or those less interested in sport
  • extended sports clubs
  • sports competition entry and transport
  • encouraging children to become leaders
  • meet statutory requirements in swimming
  • embedding physical activity through the school day through:
    • embedding in Mantle of the Expert Sessions
    • Use of physical activity in core subjects
    • Active teaching
    • Active playground

The amount of funding a school receives is based on the number of pupils  in years 1 to 6 (as recorded on the January 2019 census).

The 2020-21 funding allocations were:

  • Schools with 16 or fewer eligible pupils receive £1,000 per pupil 
  • Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil 

LAs received the funding in 2 parts, on 30 October 2019 and 30 April 2020.

The amount of premium received in 2020-21: £16,980
